Our research group studies decision-making under uncertainty, such as in the emergency room, to gain a clearer understanding of how medical diagnosis and other high-risk decisions can be improved.

Study participants wanted

🔬 Online study on teamwork in medical diagnoses.

Are you a junior doctor in Germany or Switzerland, at least in your second year of further training and have at least 12 months of experience in emergency or internal medicine?

If so, we cordially invite you to participate in our anonymous online study, ‘Influence of teamwork on medical diagnoses’!

👩⚕️ What can you expect?

  • Short, fictional patient cases (make diagnoses alone or in pairs).
  • Duration: max. 2 hours (completely online via Zoom).
  • Remuneration: 100 CHF or EUR per person.
  • Additionally: the chance to win a voucher worth 500 CHF/EUR.

How is teamwork experienced in the diagnostic process of emergency care?

The ethnographic research team at our lab explores this question through in-depth observations and interviews in Swiss emergency departments.

July 2025: The CoMind Lab hosts a workshop at the INGRoup conference in Rotterdam: “Team Research Reimagined: Applying Diverse Perspectives on Team Interactions.”

July 2025: Lukas Lichtner starts his PhD at the CoMind Lab.

May 2025: Juliane Kämmer presents the work of the CoMind Lab at this year´s ABC workshop in Rome that reunites all former members of the Center for Adaptive Behavior and Cognition.

The CoMind Lab is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) with a Starting Grant to Prof. Dr. Juliane Kämmer (project number TMSGI1_218047). The lab is part of the Diagnostic Quality Lab at the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Bern, Switzerland.
